Municipal green asset typologies dissect urban land cover per municipality to represent the distribution of green assets across Gauteng. The graph indicates that 'planted and natural grassland' are dominant features across Gauteng’s ten municipal landscapes, with larger shares of grassland predominating in less urbanised municipalities, such as Mogale City and Merafong.
'Urban' land cover classes are not the only transformed features of the landscape and may represent a changeover from one land cover class to another. This is evident in Lesedi, where 41% of the landscape is categorised as planted and natural grassland and cultivated.
