Averaging across all eight services, 67% of respondents were very satisfied or satisfied with service delivery from government. Only 25% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied.
The results vary across municipalities. Randfontein, Midvaal and Lesedi shared the top spot, with 71% of respondents on average being satisfied or very satisfied across the eight services. Johannesburg was was almost the same at 70%.
Ekurhuleni, Emfuleni, Merafong, Midvaal, Mogale City and Tshwane all clustered near the provincial average with a range of 65% to 67%. Only in Westonaria were a relatively low percentage of respondents (53%) very satisfied or satisfied.
While 67% of Gauteng residents were very satisfied or satisfied on our index of eight services …
- Only 39% were very satisfied or satisfied with national government (42% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied);
- Only 34% were very satisfied or satisfied with provincial government (44% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied); and
- Only 33% were very satisfied or satisfied with local government (48% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied).
Here too the results vary by municipal area. Residents are least satisfied with local government in Johannesburg – with 31% being very satisfied or satisfied – and most satisfied in Midvaal, Merafong and Randfontein, at 46%, 44% and 42%, respectively.
