QoL 2011 found 12% of all migrants owned their own business. Taken with the 8% of all migrants who work in the informal sector this suggests the province is attracting entrepreneurial migrants who help the economy grow.
The public sector/government in the province attracts people from elsewhere in the country and is a significant employment sector for the province.
It seems that migrants, particularly those from other countries, are more likely to work in low paid sectors with relatively insecure employment. Cross border migrants are proportionally most likely to be in insecure employment and work without contracts.
