Cross border migrants in the QoL 2011 survey were least likely to be unemployed (29%) compared to internal migrants (36%) and the Gauteng born (34%). However, race made a significant difference to employment prospects.
For Black Africans, 41% of the Gauteng born and 40% of internal migrants were unemployed. While 33% of Black African, 36% of Coloured and but only 13% of Indian/Asian and white cross border migrants were unemployed.
